Hit-and-run: Singapore-flagged ship slammed

Who?

A Singapore bulk carrier the Alam Pintar crashes into an English fishing boat the Etoile des Ondes.


What?

A Singapore registered bulk carrier ship struck a small English fishing boat on the English Channel once the English fishing boat was struck its crew member Chris Wadsworth perished in the freezing waters. 

When?

December 20th on rough freezing waters in the English channel.

Where?

The water off Cherbourg on the English channel whilst the Fishing boat was sending out a mayday signal.

Why?

The Singapore Carrier ship did not heed the signals of mayday that the fishing boat sent out but instead carried on their course and struck the fishing boat twice knocking the crewmember Chris Wadsworth 21 off the ship and into the freezing waters where he perished.

How?

What makes this accident so terrible is that once the Alam Pintar struck the fishing boat after ignoring the mayday calls is that they attempted to destroy the evidence altering and removing ships documents and readings that registered the collision that proved fatal to a member of the fishing boats crew.

So?

Since the flag flown on the Alam Pintar was Singaporean the China nationals operating the Bulk carrier ship will be tried under and the investigation held under the jurisdiction of the Singapore Maritime Port Authority the British Marine Accident Investigation branch feels assured that with the information provided by the Devon and Cornwall police and the fact that the Singapore law is tough and firm justice will be served.

Photos from the Crash were not shown as well as the fisherman probablly due to the families requests and what is exaggerated is how the Singapore carrier ship was able to blatantly ignore the mayday calls for help continue on their path and hit the fishing ship an eigth of their size and killing a crewmember.
